In my Senior Year of High School, my sustained investigation was surrounding the idea of nostalgia with emotions in theme parks. Coulrophobia is a piece in my investigation focused on the irrational fear of clowns. The piece is arranged to illustrate the child as the centerpiece of the work. The clown appears very large and threatening to illustrate how the child feels both afraid and very small. I was inspired by pieces of art where the longer you look at them the more unsettling they become. I wanted to emulate the feeling that you have when you experience a phobia because you feel like you are engulfed in it.
